My Photography and Video Gear

If you're looking for gear and the perfect combination. Check out what I use. It may just show you what is a possible combination or, give you ideas of what you can use to get started. I'm so happy with my gear that I know I've got the kit to suit my style and better still, it is the kit that never lets me down.

Canon EOS 70D

This crop sensor camera has served me well, with many quality memories captured at home and around the world. This DSLR is a fantastic introduction into Canon's dual pixel autofocus system.

Newer iterations are now available with the 80D and 90D. Keep in mind that the 70D is a perfect entry/enthusiast level that has many years of use. It's newer siblings will offer the same and more.

Canon EOS R6

A low light, full frame, and mirrorless beast. Oh my goodness, what more can I say about this camera. It is an absolute dream to use and will be with me for many years to come.

Canon M6 Mark II

This camera was my first foray into Canon MILCs and needless to say that I was in love. It shoots 4K video, it has a high resolution sensor, it detects faces with autofocus and the list goes on!

Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8

My favourite 'fast' zoom lens, which is amazing to travel with, light, quick and agile for an EF-S lens.

Canon RF 24-105mm f4L

What versatile companion would better suit an R series than this zoom? Oh my gawd, I was in love with the EF-S zoom of this range (on a crop sensor with 1.6x crop), and now I am in love again!

Canon EF-M 22mm f2 STM

Fun, quick and tiny. Perfect for family dinners and outings where you don't necessarily want to lug a DSLR/MILC with you.

Canon EF-M 15-45mm f3.5-6.3 IS STM

Came with the M6 Mk II. Handy little zoom, and found the 22 mm spends more time on this camera.

Canon EF-EOS R Mount Adapter

Adapting EF lenses is easy peasy with the EF to RF mount adapter. My EF lenses work well, real well.

Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L II

This is one almighty and trusty telephoto that takes amazing wildlife photos. I just love the way this lens separates birds and other animals from a creamy background. Even bees pollinating thistle flowers look amazing.

Canon EF 50mm f1.4

The most trusty nifty fifty I have ever used that actually feels robust and is affordable for a bloke like me.

Hoya CPL 77mm

This circular polarizing filter spends a lot of time on the front of my 24-105mm. The colours a glorious and the glare disappears.

Hoya Pro ND 1000 77mm

This 10 stop neutral density filter is perfect for slowing exposure time in bright sunlight for those dramatic and silky landscape photos.

DJI RSC 2 Pro Combo

My mind is blown when it comes to how good this gimbal is with my EOS R6.

Rode SmartLav+

This lav mic is perfect for capturing a second sound source utilising the phone in my pocket.

Manfrotto Befree GT XPRO

Light, sturdy and quick to use. This tripod goes everywhere with me.

Rode VideoMic NTG

The perfect shotgun mic for those run-and-gun situations where you want reliable and clean audio.
